Opening Ceremony in Chamonix: Start List
The Opening Ceremony including the bib draw, autograph session and concert was a hit tonite in Chamonix with fresh powder hitting the ground. The riders will inspect the face tomorrow afternoon to prepare for the competition scheduled for Sunday. More

Nissan Freeride de Chamonix Mont-Blanc Confirmed for Sunday 31 January
The Nissan Freeride de Chamonix-Mont-Blanc will kick off Sunday 31 January, at 10 am, at the “Pentes de l’Hôtel” face in the Brévent ski area in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The Mountain Guides have, for the past several days, secured the competition face and will continue Saturday before the riders’ binocular inspection of the face, scheduled for 2 pm. The last few days of snowfall promise excellent conditions on the competition face. More

Demo Scheduled for Saturday Cancelled
The Demo scheduled for Saturday morning has been cancelled due to lack of visibility. The riders are still on the mountain to warm-up their legs and take advantage of the powder. The Nissan Russian Adventure by Swatch still has two reserve days possible for competition. The clear weather windows for both Sunday and Monday seem to be much better options with the possibility of a heli-ski access to a face with over 400 vertical meters for the run. More

Demo Scheduled for Saturday
After a massive snowfall in Krasnaya Polyana over the last two days, the riders enjoyed their first powder day in preparation for the competition to come. However, the clear weather window for Saturday is predicted to be just a bit too short to complete the competition, thus a judged demo has been organized on the Alpika face (start at I1 on the photo) with a prize package including $1000 and a week on heli-skiing in Russia for one skier and one snowboarder up for grabs. More

Official Visit: Olympic Infrastructure
Attending journalists and organizers went on an official visit of the Olympic sites where they had the pleasure of meeting local officials who presented the current construction projects. One new ski lift/gondola is scheduled for a grand opening Saturday and many more to come in the next few months. More

UPDATE: Snowfall in Sochi
Over 35cm of snow has fallen at the summit of the mountains, so all the riders are up and at it this morning out to get a taste of the powder in Krasnaya Polyana. The mountain guides are already working hard to secure the face which will be confirmed tonight at the Riders Meeting... so stay tuned! More

Taking the award for "Best Shooting" and "Jury's Special Prize" at the International Freeride Film Festival in St. Lary with his segment from "Lives of the Artists" by Relentless, Xavier is gaining more recognition in the film industry. his « black Winter » segment in lastest Standard video has been nominated at Transworld Rider Poll award as standout performance of the year and it’s nominated for best line at Cold Smoke Award. To finish with award Xavier will be on the other side of the fence as he’s part of the jury at riders-match.com a video contest open for pro and amateur, Xavier won the pro category last year and he’s now in the jury. Russian 2014 Winter Olympic Resort to Host the First Stage of the Freeride World Tour 2010
The pressure is on for the first stage of the Freeride World Tour 2010. Krasnaya Polyana, the alpine and nordic ski area for the Sochi Winter Olympic Games in 2014, has become a legendary spot for the planet’s best freeride skiers and snowboarders. The athletes have challenged the Caucasian mountains since the creation of the Freeride World Tour in 2008. The Nissan Russian Adventure by Swatch will take off for its third edition 21-22 January at the Russian ski resort, which is working on the continued development of the resort ahead of the Olympics in 2014. Candide Thovex confirms participation in Sochi

After an injury a couple of years ago, he has come back with a bang winning the Red Bull Line Catcher, a freestyle backcountry competition in Vars, France, where he beat out tough competition from the new generation of freestylers. Cody Townsend not able to compete in Sochi
Unfortunately, Cody has just sent word over that he will not be able to compete in Sochi due to a minor injury sustained while skiing. A little over a month ago, he hurt his rib cage, then has re-injured it again. Doctors have advised him not to ski competitively for the next month or so. Needless to say, he is disappointed, but will cheer his fellow riders on from his home in Truckee, California. More
